Muurame is a growing municipality with over 10,600 inhabitants. Our residents are among the youngest and most educated in Central Finland. We have been rated as the most vibrant municipality in Central Finland for several years.

Muurame has vibrant business activity, and our operating principles are resident-oriented, responsibility and courage. In this way, we want to enable sustainable growth for future generations as well.

Founded in 1921, our municipality employs approximately 450 professionals who produce and secure the well-being and basic services of its residents. The center of the municipality is on the isthmus between lakes Päijänne and Muuratjärvi, through which the Muuramenjoki river flows. We have approximately 186 kilometers of beautiful coastline and 766 summer cottages.
