The clinic's aim is to promote your child's healthy growth and development and help them stay healthy. At the clinic, your child's physical, psychological, and social development is monitored. Do the following
Book an appointment for a child health clinic visit in advance through the online booking service or by contacting the child health clinics' telephone service.
Before your child's 18-month or 4-year health examination, please complete the pre-assessment form available through Siun sote's digital services.
Cancelling an appointment
You can cancel your appointment by:
- calling the centralised child health clinic telephone service; or
- sending a text message to the appointment cancellation number; or
- if you booked your appointment online, cancelling it through the online booking service using your booking reference.

Text message cancellation format
Please include the following information in your text message:
- Cancellation of a child health clinic appointment
- Full name (all given names and surname)
- Date of birth (without the personal identity code suffix)
- Appointment date and time
- Child health clinic location
Text messages may contain a maximum of 160 characters. Longer messages will not be delivered.
Text message cancellations are processed on weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Your appointment is considered cancelled once you receive a confirmation text message.

Background information
Children under school age are entitled to child welfare clinic services. The child welfare clinic monitors the child’s health, growth and development. The child welfare clinic supports the parents in bringing up the child and looking after the child’s health and wellbeing. The child welfare clinic provides children with the vaccinations specified in the national vaccination programme.
For babies under the age of one, the average number of child welfare clinic visits is once a month, and annually after that, or whenever necessary. All children are provided with at least 15 health examinations. The oral health of children is monitored at least every two years.
The child welfare clinic aims to identify the child’s and family’s need for support at the earliest possible stage. The child and family are offered the necessary support in collaboration with, for example, early childhood education and care, social and substance abuse services, and child welfare services. If a child or family requires special support or the child’s development warrants closer examination, the child welfare clinic will refer them to the right service.
