Citizenship application for adults

1. Make sure you meet the requirements for becoming a Finnish citizen.

• You are at least 18 years of age and your identity has been reliably established.
• You must have at least satisfactory oral and written skills in one of the following languages: Finnish or Swedish or Finnish Sign Language or Finland-Swedish Sign Language.
• You live in Finland and you have lived here long enough.
• You are not guilty of any crime and no restraining order has been issued against you.
• You have met your payment obligations.
• You have sufficient financial resources.

2. Make sure you have all the necessary attachments.

3. Fill in the application and add your documents.

4. Pay for the application.

5. Visit a service point to prove your identity.

6. Wait for the decision, we will contact you if necessary.
