Citizenship application for adults

Apply for Finnish citizenship by submitting a citizenship application if:
- you are at least 18 years old and
- you meet the requirements for becoming a citizen and
- you live in Finland.
You must be in Finland to apply for Finnish citizenship.
Do the following
1. Make sure you meet the requirements for becoming a Finnish citizen.
- You are at least 18 years of age and your identity has been reliably established.
- You must have at least satisfactory oral and written skills in one of the following languages: Finnish or Swedish or Finnish Sign Language or Finland-Swedish Sign Language.
- You live in Finland and you have lived here long enough.
- You are not guilty of any crime and no restraining order has been issued against you.
- You have met your payment obligations.
- You have sufficient financial resources.
2. Make sure you have all the necessary attachments.
3. Fill in the application and add your documents.
4. Pay for the application.
5. Visit a service point to prove your identity.
6. Wait for the decision, we will contact you if necessary.
