Citizenship declaration for a Nordic citizen

1. Make sure you meet the following requirements:

• Your identity has been established.
• You are at least 18 years of age.
• You have become a citizen of a Nordic country not by application but by some other way.
• You live in Finland.
• You have been living in Finland for the past five years or longer.
• You have not been sentenced to conditional or unconditional imprisonment during the past five years.

These requirements must be met at the time you submit your declaration.

2. Make sure you have all the attachments needed. This will speed up the processing of your application.

3. Fill in the application and add your documents.

4. Pay for the application.

5. Visit a service point to prove your identity.

6. Wait for the decision, the Finnish Immigration Service will contact you if necessary.
