Citizenship declaration for a young person with long-term residence in Finland

  • Permit or other obligation
  • Nationwide
  • Public service

Submit this declaration if you wish to get Finnish citizenship and you meet the following conditions:

  • you are between 18 and 22 years of age;
  • you have not been sentenced to imprisonment; and
  • you have lived in Finland for at least 10 years in total, or you were born in Finland and have lived here for at least 6 years in total.

Do the following

  1. Make sure you meet the following requirements:
  • You are 18–22 years of age.
  • Your identity has been reliably established.
  • You have not been sentenced to imprisonment.
  • You live in Finland.
  • You have lived in Finland for at least 10 years in total, with the last 2 years without interruption.

2. Make sure you have all the attachments needed. This will speed up the processing of the application.

3. Fill in the application and add your documents.

4. Pay for the application.

5. Visit a service point to prove your identity.

6. Wait for the decision, the Finnish Immigration Service will contact you if necessary.
