  • Service
  • Turku
  • Public service

If a boundary marker has been lost on your plot or the location of the boundary between plots is unclear or causes disputes, the boundary can be determined in a demarcation of boundaries. The demarcation of boundaries is an official cadastral survey in which the location of the plot border and the boundary marker are determined and resolved.

Do the following

Boundary demarcation surveys can be requested, for example, by the owner or part-owner of the property, the leaseholder, the municipality or a person whose right is affected directly by the boundary demarcation.

Order a demarcation of boundaries in the e-service.

To whom and on what terms

The owner of the plot can order a demarcation of boundaries.

Background information

When a boundary demarcation survey is carried out, the required border markers are built to replace any disappeared markers and the boundary line is marked to the terrain, if necessary. A boundary demarcation survey must be carried out when the border markers have disappeared, or the location of the boundary is otherwise unclear. If a border marker is in danger of being destroyed due to excavation work, for example, a boundary demarcation survey must be applied for before starting the work.

In the local plan areas in cities, the municipality is often responsible for boundary demarcation surveys and cadastre maintenance. In other areas, these are the responsibility of the National Land Survey of Finland.
