Do the following
Make the notification via the genetic resource registry. The Gene Technology Register is currently out of service. Until the register is back in operation, notifications must be sent by
- email to genetic_resources@syke.fi
If you have not received the internationally recognized certificate of compliance (IRCC), you must attach the information determined in Article 4, paragraph 3, of EU’s Genetic Resources Decree.
The processing time of the notifications vary from a couple of days to a week.
To whom and on what terms
The obligation applies to use of genetic resources and/or traditional knowledge that are covered by the Nagoya Protocol and that are
- acquired on 12 October 2014 or later (during the Protocol’s period of validity).
- from a country that has ratified/acceded the Nagoya Protocol, that requires prior informed consent (PIC) and that has access legislation in place.
Processing time
Processing time is approximately one week.
Period of validity
Notification will stay at the register.
