- Permit or other obligation
- Nationwide except the Åland Islands
- Public service
The Economic Development Centre can grant a commercial fishing permit in a private water body for a maximum period of five years.
The permit can be granted only if no agreement has been reached with the holder of the fishing rights and the conditions are met.
Do the following
Primarily try to rent the fishing right directly from the owner, using the fishing district as assistance. If this is not possible, contact the Economic Development Centre.
Complete the printable form.
Submit the form and its attachments to the Economic Development Centre as an attachment to the general service form. The form and attachments can also be submitted by post, by email, or in person.
A carefully completed application with attachments speeds up the processing of your case.
To whom and on what terms
The permit can be granted if:
- The water body is designated as suitable for commercial fishing in the fishing district’s management plan.
- The state of local fish population allows for commercial fishing.
- No agreement has been reached regarding using the water body for commercial fishing.
- Commercial fishing will not cause considerable damage to beach owners in the area, or the area’s other use.
Processing time
The processing time may extend over months, as the permit requires, for instance, negotiations with the owner of the fishing right.
Period of validity
The permit will be valid for a maximum of five years.
