Apply for a residence permit with this application if at least one of your parents or grandparents is or has been a Finnish citizen by birth.
Do the following
- Make sure you meet the requirements for the residence permit you are applying for.
- Make sure you have all the attachments needed for the application and that they are up to date. If necessary, have them translated and legalised.
- Fill in your application.
- Pay for your application at a Finnish mission (embassy or consulate).
- Book an appointment to visit a Finnish mission (embassy or consulate) to prove your identity.
- Wait for a decision abroad. The Finnish Immigration Service will contact you if necessary.
Period of validity
The permit is valid for a fixed time.
