Yrjönkatu swimming hall, completed in 1928, is the first and oldest public swimming pool in Finland. The pool building was designed by architect Väinö Vähäkallio, representing the classicism of the 1920s. Yrjönkatu swimming hall has cultural and historical value and its pool premises offer a traditional spa atmosphere.

Accessibility information

The sports facilities are located on floor -1.
For moving around, there is a lift, which can hold a wheelchair that is difficult to perceive; the door opens automatically. The floor numbers in the lift can be felt with fingers. The button for the exit floor stands out from the other buttons. (The minimum dimensions for an accessible lift are width 1.1 m and depth 1.4 m.)
The service point has directions to the different facilities.
The indoor walkways have 3 consecutive steps.
There is a heated storage area for wheelchairs and prams next to the entrance.
The facility has a toilet marked as accessible on floor 2. The requirements for accessibility are not met, as the toilet does not have sufficient room for a wheelchair.
The customer service/cashier's desk is located on the same floor as the entrance.
The customer service/cashier's desk can be found easily and has a fixed induction loop. The desk has sections of varying heights and is accessible to customers sitting down or standing.
At the customer service/cashier's desk, you can borrow a wheelchair, shower wheelchair, rollator walker.
The facility features a quiet area for guide and aid dogs.

The dressing rooms are located on floor 0.
Dressing rooms are also located on floor 2.
The facility has a separate accessible dressing room. The door opens automatically with an opening button. The doorway has no threshold.
The separate accessible dressing room features a dressing bench and sufficient room for an assistant. Good illumination and clear contrasts facilitate spatial perception. There are no lockers in the dressing room. An accessible toilet is connected to the dressing room.
An accessible shower room is available in connection to the separate accessible dressing room. An embossed sign is provided on the door of the shower room. The door opens automatically with an opening button. The doorway has no threshold.
The shower room has a more spacious and accessible showering spot with a seat as well as a support railing.
The sauna is connected to the men's/women's dressing room. The door opens easily manually.
Toisessa kerroksessa on puu- ja infrapunasaunat, joihin on portaaton kulku. Erillinen esteetön puku- ja pesutila sijaitsee myös toisessa kerroksessa.
The sauna has room for one wheelchair. It is possible to move onto the lowest bench from the wheelchair. The upper benches can be accessed through easily navigable stepswith handrails.
