Background information

Vocational education and training is either initial vocational education leading to a qualification or further vocational education. The education and training provide the students with capabilities for applying for higher education studies.

In vocational education and training, the student acquires competence not only from the educational institution but also from workplaces and online learning environments. Workplace education and training is supported by, for example, apprenticeship and training agreements.

Application and completion of studies is flexible and studies can be completed in a shorter time than previously.
