Published 11/9/2026

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) has published the ACME service (Automated Certificate Management Environment), which enables the automated management and renewal of certificates.

The goal of introducing ACME in the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer is to reduce the manual work associated with certificate renewal and to simplify certificate management in organisations.

Customers of the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer Cannot Yet Deploy the ACME Service

Although DVV's ACME service has now been published, customers of the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer cannot yet deploy the ACME service on their own security servers.

Deploying the ACME service still requires technical changes and other preparatory measures in the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer. The deployment schedule is also affected by the X-Road version currently in use.

The publication of DVV's ACME service is nevertheless a significant milestone in the preparations for introducing ACME in the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer. Following the publication, we can continue planning the deployment and further refine the implementation, schedule and the actions required from customers.

We will announce separately when deployment of the ACME service becomes possible for customers of the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer. At the same time, we will explain what actions organisations will need to take in practice to deploy the service.
