New token for Suomi.fi e-Identification: hightrust.id

A new Finnish token, hightrust.id, will be added to the Suomi.fi e-Identification token selection.

The new identification token will be introduced in the production environment on Tuesday 29 October 2024.

Identification token has been in the test environment since 3 October 2024.

What is hightrust.id?

hightrust.id is a new, strong, electronic identification token from Finland.

The application allows you to connect your physical certificate card data with your mobile device’s hightrust.id wallet, which means that you will no longer need the actual card after initial identification.

The application provides a secure identification functionality and secure communication with background systems. The background system uses the data received through the application to check the validity of the transaction, to verify the certificate chain and to return the user’s data to the e-service that requested the identification transaction.

hightrust.id is an identification service approved by Traficom that joined the trust network in late 2023.

The new token does not require any measures from e-services

The assurance level of the token is substantial, the same as with banking codes and mobile certificates. The token will be visible for all e-services. The implementation of the new token does not require any measures from e-services.

The same data on a person identified using the hightrust.id application is transmitted to the e-service as on a person identified using other Finnish tokens. The personal data of the person using the identification service is verified in the Population Information System, and the data requested by the e-service is transmitted to the service.
