Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer production environment (FI) has been updated to X-Road 7.6.2 version on 26 November 2025

The central server environment of the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer production environment (FI) has been updated to X-Road version 7.6.2.

Installation packages for the new X-Road version have been released to the repositories, and Security Servers can now be updated to the new version.

Before the update: back up the Security Server

Before you update the Security Server software to a new version, take a thorough backup of the server.

When you have a snapshot of the Security Server’s disk or an otherwise comprehensive backup, you can restore the old version if problems occur in the update. At a minimum, back up the configuration of the Security Server through the UI: Back Up and Restore > BACK UP CONFIGURATION.

Short update instructions

RHEL 8/9:

- yum update

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / Ubuntu 24.04 LTS:

- curl http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/csc/x-road/client/ubuntu-prod-current/niis.public.ascOpens in a new window. | sudo apt-key add -
- apt update
- apt full-upgrade

Note! Updating to the new version is only supported from version 7.4.x or 7.5.x. Please also note that RHEL 7 and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS are no longer supported in X-Road version 7.6.x.

The Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer is preparing for the introduction of the Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME)

With ACME, the current Authentication (auth) and Signing Certificates (sign) for Security Servers can be automatically renewed directly through the Security Server user interface.

Schedule

• Now: DVV is testing the ACME feature
• Turn of the year: Pilot with a partner
• Beginning of 2026: Instructions will be published on the Suomi.fi for Developers site, info, support clinics
• 2026: ACME will be deployed in all Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer environments
