Define or determine access rights

Define open data access rights with an open license

Access rights to open data must be defined with an open licence, which enables unrestricted reuse of the data. Information on the licence must be found in the description of the dataset.
Suitable licenses include:

  • Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication (CC0) license (usually in metadata)
  • Creative Commons BY 4.0 licence (usually in datasets)
  • an equivalent or a less restrictive open licence.
