To whom and on what terms
Government grants for special sites on private roads, which include ferry landings, annually dismantled bridges, and winter roads, are primarily awarded to private roads that serve permanent residences.
The application must include accurate and sufficient information on the intended use of the grant and other factors affecting the decision.
Safety requirements for private road ferries in the processing of government grants
Regardless of its type, a private road ferry is considered at least a watercraft and is therefore subject to the requirements of the Water Traffic Act (782/2019). Not all ferries have been inspected, which means it cannot always be verified that every ferry meets the required safety standards. For this reason, going forward, a safety form for private road ferries must also be submitted as an attachment to the payment application. This ensures that the requirements of the Water Traffic Act are met even for ferries that have not been inspected.
