Scrapping a vehicle and final deregistration

  • Permit or other obligation
  • Nationwide
  • Public service

You can permanently delete your vehicle from the register by submitting it for recycling free of charge at an official take-back point of Suomen Autokierrätys Oy.

Passenger cars and vans must always be submitted to an official take-back point for scrapping in order to be permanently deleted from the register.

If the vehicle that is to be scrapped is not a car or van, you can also scrap it elsew ...

Do the following

At the Suomen Autokierrätys take-back point, you will receive a certificate of destruction once you have taken your vehicle there. The take-back point will take care of the deregistration of your vehicle. After the scrapping and final deregistration have been completed by the take-back point, you do not need to make any other notification about it.

Please contact the take-back point if you have any further questions regarding the scrapping or final deregistration of the vehicle.

If the vehicle that is to be scrapped is not a car or van, you can also scrap it elsewhere. If you have scrapped a vehicle in some other way than through an official take-back point, you have to perform the final deregistration yourself. You can perform it at Traficom's My e-Services.

If you are unable to use the electronic service, you can also fill in the pdf form Report on destruction of vehicle (B144) and submit it to Traficom’s registry. For the report, you need a certificate issued by the party in charge of scrapping the vehicle or another reliable report on how your vehicle was scrapped.
