The Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer’s central servers’ test environment (FI-TEST) will be updated to X-Road version 7.5.1

The Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer’s central servers’ test environment (FI-TEST) will be updated to the newest X-Road version, 7.5.1, on 9 October 2024. Unlike usually, we will not release country-specific installation packages immediately after updating the central servers, nor do we recommend upgrading security servers to X-Road 7.5.1 for the time being.

This time, new installation packages will not be available immediately after the central servers have been updated. We will notify Data Exchange Layer users later when the new version is available for all security servers in the test environment.

We will take a different approach this time because we will partially enable automatic renewal of signing certificates and server certificates in the Data Exchange Layer along with the X-Road version 7.5.1 update. We want to conduct tests and ensure that the automation works as planned before we enable its introduction. Read more about automatic renewal of certificates here.

After the X-Road version 7.5.1 update, the Data Exchange Layer will only support X-Road version 7.0.4 and newer. If your organisation’s security servers use an older version, the security servers must be updated to at least version 7.0.4 to be able, for example, add new subsystems to the central servers.

It should also be noted that service providers may require a version newer than 7.0.4 from security servers using their service. If your security server’s X-Road version is older than the minimum version required by the service provider, it will not be possible to connect to said service provider’s services through the Data Exchange Layer. In this case, data cannot be transferred until the security server has been updated to the minimum version required by the service provider.
