As the Data Exchange Layer service provider, specify the minimum software version required of your customer organisations' security servers
This article applies to Data Exchange Layer customers who use Finland-specific versions and guidelines. If you have installed the Vanilla package from the NIIS repository, your security server does not have any Finnish-specific settings unless you have specified them yourself.
As a service provider. when you upgrade your security server to X-Road 7.4.x or later, the new default settings are set for your service provider's security servers. With these default settings, you will require at least X-Road version 7.2. of the security servers of your customers who use your services. If the security server of a customer using your service is running a version older than X-Road 7.2.x, communications will be completely interrupted between the service provider and the user.
You can read the announcement here.
As a service provider, you can use the default minimum version, X-Road 7.2.X, or you can define the minimum version you require yourself.
As a service provider, you can change the minimum version you require from your customers' security servers as follows. You can verify the Finnish X-Road version by checking whether the following configuration file can be found on the security server:
/etc/xroad/conf.d/override-securityserver-fi.iniIf the configuration file is found, you are using the Finnish version of X-Road. If the file is not found, you have the Vanilla version for which the minimum version is not specified. If you are using the Finnish version, you can change the property by changing 7.2.0 to the desired version by adding the line below to the [proxy] section of the file /etc/xroad/conf.d/local.ini:
server-min-supported-client-version=6.20.0In the above example, the minimum version required for a security server that retrieves data from a service provider's security server is 6.20.0, but as a service provider, you can specify the X-Road version number freely.
NB! As a service provider, you are responsible for communicating to organisations using your services which minimum version you require and how it will impact the use of your services! The Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer recommends that, as a service provider, you first require a lower version number than 7.2 to ensure that organisations using your service are aware of the new requirements and have time to update their security servers. The Data Exchange Layer recommends setting the minimum version lower than the two previous versions that are used by the central servers.
From 22 May 2024 onwards, the central servers of the Suomi.fi Data Exchange Layer require at least X-Road version 6.20.0 from organisations using the Data Exchange Layer. When moving to X-Road version 7.5 (tentatively planned for autumn 2024), the central servers will require that security servers run at least X-Road version 7.0.4.
