Organisation
Tampere is proven to be the most attractive city in Finland, known for its relaxed and bold spirit of doing and developing things together. The city and the urban region are growing strongly but sustainably. Tampere is a highly regarded city of excellence, culture, events and students, home to more than 260 000 people.
Tampere is Finland’s third-largest city and the largest inland city in the Nordic countries. Tampere is the regional center of Pirkanmaa. Together with its neighboring municipalities, Tampere forms Finland’s second-largest economic region, home to more than 420,000 people.
The city’s services are organized into three service groups: Education and Culture Services, Economic Development, Competence and Real Estate Services and Urban Environment and Infrastructure Services. The mayor of Tampere is a full-time elected official. In addition to the mayor, Tampere has three deputy mayors.
