Who are required to pay a fee for the service?
The use of Suomi.fi e-Identification is subject to a fee for organisations that are not part of public administration nor a company owned by a public sector entity.
Who are not required to pay a fee for the service?
The use of Suomi.fi e-Identification is free of charge for
- public administration organisations (government offices, municipalities, wellbeing services counties)
- companies owned by public sector entities
- citizens and other private individuals.
Pricing of Suomi.fi e-Identification
Value-added tax of 25.5% is added to the prices.

Basis for the liability to charge
The fees are based on amendments to the Act on the Joint Electronic Support Services in Public Administration (571/2016), which entered into force at the beginning of 2026. The amendment to the Government Decree on chargeable services specifies which entities may be charged and in which situations a fee may be waived. The fees will be applied from 1 April 2026 onwards.
Invoicing
Invoicing takes place on a monthly basis based on the transactions of the previous month.
