Activation of email notifications
The notification service enables you to subscribe to receiving information in your email about changes made to the resources you want to use (terminologies, codelists and datamodels). The notification service works in a different way in different tools because accessibility and usability corrections have not been implemented at the same rate in the different tools.
To be able to subscribe to the notification service, you must have the Eduuni credentials for identifying yourself to the Interoperability Platform (see the instructions Registering an individual's Eduuni-IDs). In addition to the credentials, you do not need to have the access rights of any organisation for the platform.
Instructions:
- With your Eduuni credentials, log into the tool that you want to receive email notifications about when changes have been made in its resources.
- Select the resources, in other words, go to the page of the desired codelist, datamodel or terminology.
The changes you can follow are:
- Changes in the general information of the resource, such as the contributor organisation of the terminology or the publication of a new version of the datamodel.
- Changes in the actual contents of the resources, such as a change in the status of a concept or a code description in terminologies or codelists.
Subscribing to notifications to a codelist
The email about changes is sent once in 24 hours and includes changes to all subscribed resources from the previous 24 hours.
Select the Add email subscription in the Choose action pull down menu in the upper right corner to activate the notification service. Confirm by clicking the Yes in the new window asking Add email subscription to resource regarding changes?
After the confirmation, the tool saves the subscription and a clock symbol appears next to the menu to indicate a valid subscription.
To remove the subscription, select Remove email subscription from the drop-down menu.
Summary view of notifications in the Reference Data tool
You can view all the notifications you have subscribed to on the Subscriptions tab in User details page.
User information can be found in the menu in the top right corner after logging in. You can also remove subscriptions from the tab by clicking the waste bin icon after the name.
Temporary suspension of notifications in the Reference Data tool
Email notifications are sent daily from the tool if changes have been made to the subscribed data.
You can temporarily turn off the notifications without removing the actual subscriptions. You can do this on the Subscriptions tab in User details. Uncheck the option Daily and accept the system’s request for a confirmation of the subscription change. The notifications are then turned off. To turn on the notifications, click the same checkbox again.
Please note that the service does not collect changes when notifications are turned off, but starts the collection of changes from the day you turn the notifications on again.
The email about changes is sent once in 24 hours and includes the changes that have been made in all the subscribed terminologies in the previous 24-hour period.
