Deleting a code list

In certain cases, a code list can be deleted completely from the tool. This is possible if the status of the code list is incomplete or draft.

This is done from the data card of the code list (on a tab) in the Choose action menu and selecting the “Delete code list” option.

If the status of the code list is set to valid, the code list can no longer be deleted. After this, the status of the code list can be set only to Superseded, Retired or Invalid.

The deletion of the code list is also prevented in the following cases:

• the code list has been linked to an extension of another code list or a member of the extension.
• the code list has been linked to a code of another code list.
