Editing and deleting a terminology

When you have created a terminology or you otherwise have the right to edit a terminology, you can

• add concepts to it
• make changes to the terminology.

To edit the information created at the creation stage, click Edit terminology button.

You can create a new version of a terminology by selecting Create new version of terminology.

You can delete a terminology entirely by selecting Remove terminology button.

Please note that it is not possible to delete a valid terminology because references to it may have been made. In that case, you can change the status of the terminology to Retired or Superseded instead of deleting it.

You can add one or more concepts to a terminology by selecting “Add new concept”. Instructions for adding a concept are provided on the page Front page of a concept and term.

You can import concepts to a terminology with a file by selecting Import concepts. Instructions for importing concepts with a file are available on the page Importing concepts with files.

You can add a new collection to the terminology as follows

• Select Add new collection
• Fill in the basic information of the collection.
• To add concepts to a collection, select Add concept to collection button.
• Select Save at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

You can change the status information of concepts in bulk as follows:

• Select Change statuses of concepts button.
• The select from the dropdown list the current status of the items to be changed.
• After this, select if you want to change the statuses of concepts, terms, or both.
• From the targets end state list, select the status you want to apply to the items and finally click Save.

Please note that both a concept and a term can have their own status, and they are not dependent on each other. Therefore, when changing statuses, consider whether you are updating concepts, terms, or both.

This functionality enables you to change the status of all concepts and terms in the terminology, for example, from draft to valid. To change the status of an individual concept, you need to go to the page of the concept concerned.

To subscribe to information on changes made to a terminology, select Add email subscription. You can cancel your subscription by clicking Delete email subscription.

You can change the status of a terminology through the edit function. First, select Edit terminology.

On the list, select the terminology status you want to change the terminology to and in the end, click Save. 

Changing the status of a terminology does not change the status of the concepts and terms included in the terminology. The statuses of the concepts and terms must be changed separately in the section Change statuses of concepts under Concept actions.

To subscribe to information on changes made to a terminology, select Add email subscription button. You can cancel your subscription by clicking Delete email subscription.
