How can I create a service collection?
A service collection is an opportunity to bundle services and service channels together to make them searchable in the interface as a single collection.
You can create service collections without restrictions
- from your own organisation’s services and channels
- from the services and channels of your own organisation and others
- only from the services and channels of other organisations.
The History menu of a service or service channel will show if the content has been added to a service collection.
This is what to do
Click the Add New button to start creating the service collection in the user interface. Select Service Collection.
This will open a page where you can enter the service collection's initial details. Select the language you want to use for your service collection and give the service collection a name. You will be able to select and name multiple language versions right away, or you can create different language versions of the service collection later. Click the Add Service Collection button.
Next, a page will open where you can enter all of the service collection’s details. The data fields that are not marked as (optional) are mandatory.
To cancel without saving, click the Cancel button at the top or bottom of the page. Your changes will not be saved.
The intended purpose of the service collection determines which details should be entered in the different fields. For example, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency does not publicise the names, summaries or descriptions that it gives to service collections, which means that those details are meant for administrators processing service collections in the FSC user interface rather than for regular readers.
You will be able to edit the name of the service collection. It is recommended that you use a name that indicates which types of services or service channels have been bundled together in the service collection.
Enter a summary of the service collection’s key content.
In the description, you can give details on – for example – the purpose of your service collection as well as the services and service channels included in it.
Your own organisation will automatically be used as the organisation. You will only be able to change it to a sub-organisation of your own organisation, if any exist.
Save as draft.
Add content to the service collection
Next, add content to the service collection. The content can be a service or service channel of any organisation.
Scroll down to the Add Content section and click on the Add Content button.
Search for the required content by using the appropriate search criteria.
You can search for content
- using keywords (not mandatory)
- based on content type
- based on the organisation.
If you are searching for services, you will also be able to filter search results by service class, target groups and industries.
Click on the Search button.
You will be able to view more information on the contents of a search result by clicking the Expand button on the right-hand side to open them.
Check the boxes for the content you want to add.
When you are ready, click on the Save button.
Publish the service collection
Once the service collection is ready to be published in the interface, click the Publish button.
You can publish the content immediately or specify the publication date. If you want to specify the publication date, tick the box Specify publication date and select the date.
Select the content language versions that you want to publish. You can select one language, several languages or all languages. The language versions that you do not select for publishing remain as drafts or are transferred to draft state.
Click Publish. If you have entered all of the required information, the service collection has now been published.
