Creating or importing codes

The codes of a codelist can be created one by one through the user interface or by importing them from an Excel file.

Creating a code

Manual creation of a code starts from the Choose action menu in the top right corner of the data card of the codelist.

In the view, it is possible to

• search with a search word and filter the search results according to the name and status of the terminology.
• select the desired concept by clicking its name
• create a code without a concept (not a recommended option)
• because suggesting a concept to the Terminologies tool is no longer possible, the “Suggest the concept to Terminologies” button has been inactivated.

When the desired function has been selected, the data card for the code is opened, in which at least the mandatory fields must be filled in (see "Create code” window). In the end, the code is saved by clicking the Save button in the top right corner of the view.

This opens a view in which the concept corresponding to the code is retrieved from the terminologies of the Terminologies tool.

Importing codes

If a codelist has been created but does not yet contain any codes, the codes can be imported in an Excel file.

In this case, use an Excel file in which the codes are listed on the Codes tab and the columns have been named in accordance with the instructions. 

The Import codes function is therefore intended for a use case in which codes are imported to an "empty" codelist for the first time.
