Administrative maintenance
This page contains the administrative maintenance measures that apply to the connection you have made to Suomi.fi Messages. Your organisation must look after the administrative maintenance of its connection throughout its life cycle.
Following our communication channels for updates and changes
Your organisation must monitor the changes made to Suomi.fi Messages so that you can take them into account in your organisation’s internal processes and, when necessary, make the required changes to your connection.
As a rule, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency provides information on the changes made to Suomi.fi Messages on the Suomi.fi for Service Developers Opens in a new window.website. In some cases, a bulletin will also be sent to the contact email address provided by your organisation. Your organisation must follow these communication channels.
If you wish, you can also follow the development of Suomi.fi Messages at a more general level via the Suomi.fi Newsletter and in information events organised by Suomi.fi Messages.
Collecting and monitoring feedback
Collect feedback from your experts and customers on the use of your Suomi.fi Messages connection. Develop your processes according to the feedback you receive.
If necessary, you can forward the feedback to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency at organisaatiopalvelut@dvv.fi. We are happy to hear about the feedback you have received so that we can take it into account in the development of Suomi.fi Messages.
Maintaining contact information
If there any changes to your contact information, please send an email to viestit-kayttoonotot@dvv.fi. Write “Update to service contact information” as the subject of your email and include the following details in the body of your message:
- the name of your organisation
- the name of the service provided by your organisation
- which contact information the change applies to
- how the contact information should be changed.
Maintaining the life cycle of a connected service
The life cycle states that you must manage include the temporary or permanent closure of your organisation’s service connection. Closing a service connection means that you can no longer send messages in the name of the closed service. Any communications by end users to the service will also be blocked and the service will be hidden from your Suomi.fi Messages reports.
Temporarily closing a connected service
To temporarily close – i.e. deactivate – a service connection, send a notification to viestit-kayttoonotot@dvv.fi. Write “Temporary closure of the service” as the subject of your email and include the following details in the body of your message:
- the name of your organisation
- which service connection(s) you wish to deactivate
- when the deactivation should take effect
- the reason for the deactivation.
If the Digital and Population Data Services Agency has reason to doubt the functionality of the connection to your service, we will contact your organisation about the temporary closure of the connection. If your organisation does not respond to this contact attempt, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency may close the interface on its own initiative. In addition, your connection may be closed immediately in situations where, for example, not closing the connection could compromise the information security or data protection of Suomi.fi Messages or some other service.
You can reopen a temporarily closed connection by sending an email to viestit-kayttoonotot@dvv.fi.
Permanently closing a connected service
The way that the connection to your service is closed depends on whether your organisation is entitled or obligated to use Suomi.fi Messages.
If your organisation is entitled to use Suomi.fi Messages, you can permanently close your service connection by following the temporary closure process described above. In these cases, write "Permanent closure of an entitled service" as the subject of your email.
If your organisation is obligated to use Suomi.fi Messages, you must apply for an exemption in order to permanently close the service you have connected. For more information about the process of applying for an exemption, see the Terminating the use of Suomi.fi Messages page.
Changing the name of your organisation or service.
If you wish to change the name of your organisation or service in Suomi.fi Messages, please contact viestit-kayttoonotot@dvv.fi. Write “Change of organisation name" or “Change of service name” as the subject of the email and include the following details in the body of your message:
- the current name of your organisation
- the current name of the service provided by your organisation, if you wish to change it
- the new name of your organisation or its service.
Good naming practices for connected services are described in the “E-service details” section on the Applying for an access licence page.
Please note that, at the moment, your new name will also be added retroactively to all messages that your organisation has previously sent. Here are a few examples of what this means in practice:
- Your organisation sends a message to an end user on behalf of a service titled “E-services”.
- Your organisation later requests that the name of this service be changed to “E-services for early childhood education and care”.
- The end user looks at the message they originally received from your organisation’s “E-services” service.
- From the end user’s perspective, the message was sent by the “E-services for early childhood education and care” service, even though it was originally called “E-services” at the time.
