You can add one or more telephone numbers.
Note! You can only add multiple numbers if the numbers are related to the same service or entity. Service telephone numbers related to various topic areas handled by your organisation should not be grouped under a single telephone service channel. Instead, each topic area should have its own telephone service channel.
Click the "Add new telephone number" button.
Next, select a phone number type from four options:
- Ordinary telephone number
The number can be reached from abroad and it always contains an area code. - Nationwide helpline that cannot be called from abroad
The telephone number does not contain an area code. For example, 020202. - Text message
A number to which a message can be spent and from which a reply is sent as a text message (for the hearing impaired). Text messages are also typically used in communications between a client and the organisation related to the booking of appointments. - Fax
A fax can be sent to the number.
Normal phone number, text message, or fax:
If you select a normal phone number, text message, or fax, the following fields will appear, in which you can fill in the telephone number and related information:
- Country code
The user interface provides the Finnish area code +358 by default. You can also select the country code for another country from the drop-down menu by deleting the country code offered and typing the beginning of the name of another country in the field or by scrolling down the menu. - Telephone number
Enter the phone number without its first zero in the field. The user interface will notify you of an error if the phone number starts with zero. The field can hold up to 20 characters. - Under the Preview heading, you can see what the combined area code and phone number you have entered in the fields will look like.
Additional information (optional)
In this field, you can provide additional information about the telephone number, such as "Switchboard", "Customer Service", etc. Fill in the additional information, especially when you enter several different numbers for the same telephone service channel, so that the client will know which of the numbers they should call.
However, do not enter the names of any persons in the additional information field, but use their job titles or other information that will guide the client. The recommendation is to not add people's names to the Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue, as FSC data can be utilised through an open interface anywhere. The additional information field can hold up to 150 characters.
Example 1: The name of the telephone service channel is “Valkeavuori School nurses, Kaarina”. Two different telephone numbers have been given for this telephone service channel in the Suomi.fi Finnish Service Catalogue, and their additional information is “School nurse (grades 1–6)” and “School nurse (grades 7–9)”.
When creating a telephone service channel, the possibility of describing several phone numbers as a single telephone service channel has been utilised when the numbers are alternatives.
If your organisation has several telephone numbers that serve different topics, describe them as completely separate telephone service channels and attach them to the correct services.
Example 2: If your organisation uses a WhatsApp number for clients, describe it as a telephone service channel and select Text Message as the phone number type. In the description text to be entered in the general information (LINK), explain how the client can use WhatsApp as a telephone service channel and add the WhatsApp number and other information in the service channel's detailed information. You can also mention WhatsApp in the name of the telephone service channel if the telephone number is intended specifically or only for contacts via WhatsApp messages.
