Deployment using a system provider's solution

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency does not provide organisations with a user interface for using Suomi.fi Messages. Messages are sent and received through the Suomi.fi Messages REST API.

Your organisation can adopt Suomi.fi Messages either by implementing an integration with your own system or by using a solution provided by a system supplier.

Many system suppliers have already implemented an integration with Suomi.fi Messages. In such cases, deployment can be carried out as part of an existing system without a separate integration project.

If your organisation is acquiring a new system, support for Suomi.fi Messages should be considered already during the procurement and tendering phase. Deployment can also be facilitated by making use of the experiences of other organisations or shared solutions.

Responsibilities of the organisation and the system provider

When a system supplier’s solution is used, the system supplier is typically responsible for the technical implementation of the integration, testing, and system-specific deployment activities.

Your organisation is responsible for the administrative deployment tasks, such as:

• applying for a service permit, where required
• completing and submitting the service information form
• participating in deployment testing.

In addition, your organisation is responsible for:

• designing message content
• defining operating procedures and processes
• training staff
• internal and external communications.

The deployment phases and implementation approach may vary depending on the system. More detailed instructions on deployment and system-specific functionalities are available from the system supplier.

Costs and functionalities

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency does not charge organisations for the use of Suomi.fi Messages. When the printing, enveloping and delivery service is used, the print service provider invoices the organisation for the paper letters sent. The system supplier may also charge for implementing the integration, maintenance, or changes related to system version upgrades.

The system supplier determines which functionalities of the Suomi.fi Messages REST API are supported by the system and how they are implemented. Before deployment, it is recommended that you confirm with the system supplier which functionalities are available and whether they can be extended if needed.
