Content of an electronic message

An electronic message consists of a title, text content, and any attachments.

Message Title

An electronic message must always have a defined title. The title is displayed to the end user when they review their messages in the Inbox view of Suomi.fi Messages and in the message detail view. The title is not displayed in notifications related to the message.

The title can be up to 256 characters long.

Message Text Content

You can define any desired text content for the electronic message. The content can be either plain unformatted text or text formatted using the Markdown language. Markdown allows for features such as bold text and lists.

Images cannot be embedded in the content. The text content has no practical length limitation

Please note that the Suomi.fi Messages interfaces generate clickable links for end users only from links that start with https://. All links you send should be in this format. In the future, it is likely that links beginning with http:// will be blocked in the message sending interfaces and should therefore not be used.

If possible, it is recommended to include the essential content of the electronic message directly in the text content rather than in an attachment. This ensures that your organization can better reach the end user, particularly when messages are read on mobile devices.

Message Attachments

In addition to text content, electronic messages may contain attachments. Attachments delivered electronically may include:

• PDF files (.pdf)
• Image files (.jpg, .jpeg, .png)
• Microsoft Word documents (.doc, .docx)
• Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx)
• Microsoft PowerPoint presentations (.ppt, .pptx)
• Open Document files (.odt, .ods)
• Text files (.txt)

Multiple attachments can be added to an electronic message. The maximum file size for a single attachment is 10 MB. A message can contain up to 50 files.

Before forwarding an electronic message, Suomi.fi Messages ensures that its attachments do not contain viruses or malware.
