Controlling notifications
Suomi.fi Messages sends an email notification to the end user in the following situations:
- When an electronic message sent by your organisation arrives in their electronic inbox in Suomi.fi Messages (notification of a new message).
- If a received regular message has not been read within seven days (notification of an unread message).
Notifications are sent to the email address that the end user has registered and verified for Suomi.fi Messages.
If the end user has enabled the Suomi.fi mobile application, they will also receive a push notification for a new message. At present, push notifications are not sent for unread messages.
Your organisation can modify the notification of a new message email content and manage the notification of an unread message settings according to your needs.
Customising the new message notification
Your organisation can customise the email notification sent when a new message is delivered. You can choose to customise only the subject line or both the subject line and the content. The customisation is performed in the system you use, and Suomi.fi Messages incorporates the customisations into the email notification sent to the end user.
Push notifications sent to the end user cannot currently be customised.
Please note that the customised subject and content must be provided in Finnish, Swedish, and English. This ensures that the end user receives the notification in their preferred language.
Customising the notification is optional. If you do not modify it, Suomi.fi Messages will use the default notification content. Examples and instructions can be found on the Customising email notifications.
Adjusting the unread message notification settings
The settings for unread message notifications can be adjusted. Your organisation can specify at the time of sending that no notification should be sent to the end user if the message remains unread. This feature is useful for messages that are informational in nature and do not have a critical deadline for reading.
Adjusting the sending settings is optional. If no changes are made, notifications will be sent according to the default configuration.
Hiding the sender’s name
Notifications include the sender’s name and a prompt to view the message in the Suomi.fi web service or mobile application. If necessary, you can hide the name of your organisation and its service from the email notifications sent to end users.
However, please note that the sender’s name should only be hidden for compelling reasons, as displaying the sender in the notification is more user-friendly.
