How to use user interface search?
In the Finnish Service Catalogue, you will first see the Content search page where you can search for all content types available in the FSC (services, service channels, details of organisations, general descriptions and service collections).
You can view the contents of all organisations but the contents of the other organisations can only be edited and published by the main users and users of the organisations in question. General descriptions can only be maintained by the FSC administrators in the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
Try the search features so that you learn how to use them.
Content searches have the following default selections limiting the search:
- content type: service, all five different types of service channels, organisational data
- organisation: your own organisation
- content status: draft, published
- order: latest first.
If you make the search with these default selections, you will get all draft or published contents of your own organisation, starting with the most recent.
Click Search to make the search. Click Clear to clear the search result and any filters you have used.
You do not need to use search words as you can also make a filter-based search.
If you want to use search words,
- use the drop-down menu at Select field to specify your search
- enter an appropriate string as the search word.
You can base the search on a word part. Do not use * to break a word.
You can search with a content name, phone number, email address or an FSC identifier (ID).
If you make a content name search, you get search results displaying contents with the specified string in their Name or Alternative name fields.
If you make a phone number search, you get search results displaying contents with the specified phone number in their phone number fields.
If you make an email address search, you get search results displaying services or service channels with the specified email address in their email address fields. The results of the email address search will also display editors’ email addresses.
You can also make a search based on content FSC identifiers (IDs). You can find the FSC identifier in the Suomi.fi Web Service at the end of the service or service channel page address.
Click Edit filters to specify the search or change the search filters.
The Filter search results view that opens displays a number of filtering options. You can make a wide variety of different searches by combining the filtering options available to you.
Under Display, you can
- limit the search to the contents of your own organisation

- services of different types (ordinary service, permit or obligation, professional qualification)
- all service channels
- each service channel type separately (e-service, website, printable form, phone service, service location)

If you limit the search to services or general descriptions, additional filtering options are displayed. You can limit the search in accordance with a service type (service, professional qualification or permit or other obligation), service class, target group, keyword and industrial class.
If you limit the search to general descriptions, you are provided with an additional filtering option: general description area type, or the types of organisation for which the general description is intended (municipalities and wellbeing services counties, regional business services, or Evangelical Lutheran parishes).
Click Order to determine in which order the search result is displayed. You can select alphabetical order in either direction or chronological order in either direction.
After adding the filters, click Filter to make the search.

The search results show the following content details:
- organisation
- content name
- content type and status
- published languages/draft languages/ archived languages
- last time the contents were edited and the user ID of the person making the most recent edits.
Search result languages
In the search result, the content name is always primarily displayed in the language that you use in the FSC user interface even if you made the search in another language.
Example: You use the user interface in Finnish and you are searching for contents with a Swedish search word. The search results will be displayed in Finnish even if they were also available in Swedish.
