Generating an address page
Update 8.10.2026: Provider of the Suomi.fi Messages printing, enveloping and distribution service (TKJ service) will change
- The provider of the Suomi.fi Messages TKJ service will change from Posti Messaging to Edita Prima. As part of the provider transition, the position of the envelope window will change, which will also affect the requirements for generating the address page.
- If you are using the address page generated by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) as described in these instructions, no actions are required from your organisation. DVV will update the address page to comply with the requirements of the new provider.
- The technical instructions will be updated during the transition period to reflect the requirements of the new provider. More detailed information on the impacts of the change, the schedule, updated technical instructions and any required actions will be communicated at a later date.
Content to be sent to end users as paper mail is submitted to Suomi.fi Messages in a single PDF file. The first content page must contain the recipient’s address information necessary for delivering the message and meet the requirements of Posti's iPost service.
Your organisation may see to the appropriate generation of the first page and address information as you prefer:
- Your organisation can create the layout of the address information. Your organisation can ask Suomi.fi Messages to create the layout of the address information on your behalf automatically if the message is to be sent as paper mail.
- The implementation method is managed per individual message. This means that if your organisation so wishes, you can create the address page layout for some of the messages yourself and ask Suomi.fi Messages to do this for others. Read more about the options below.
Layout of address information created by the organisation
If a message sent by your organisation is to be delivered as paper mail, your organisation must ensure that the layout of the information on the first page of the message meets the requirements. Messages cannot be delivered as paper mail without proper layout.

Layout of address information created by Suomi.fi Messages
If preferred, your organisation may entrust the generation of the first page and creation of an appropriate layout for the address information contained in it to Suomi.fi Messages. In this case, Suomi.fi Messages will generate a so-called address page for the message based on the address information you have provided and add it to the PDF file before sending the message for printing. The address page is only added if the message is to be sent as paper mail.
Requesting address page generation is essential for your organisation especially if your message can be sent either electronically or as paper mail, and the main content of the message is in a PDF file in both cases. As an address page is only generated for possible mailing by paper mail, this ensures that the page containing the address information will not be unnecessarily sent to an end user who receives electronic messages.
Please note that the address page only contains the address information provided by your organisation. Suomi.fi Messages cannot add to the page any other content besides that which you have specified.
In addition to the address information page, Suomi.fi Messages adds a blank page to the message after the address page in case of two-sided printing of the content.
If Suomi.fi Messages adds an address page to the message, this will not interfere with the possible electronic signature of an attachment that is sent electronically.
